I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been selected to be one of 5 artists in residence in four towns and villages across the district of North Kesteven in Lincolnshire. Right where I’m from, in fact. I literally went to sixth form in the town I’m going to be working with: North Hykeham. *waves at North Hykeham Joint Sixth Form*
I’ve proposed a new piece of listening theatre called Your Home From Here which will start with the question “tell me about where you grew up”. I’ll be roaming the streets of where I went to sixth form, the pool I swam in with Pentaqua, and hanging out around the Chip Stop finding out what’s the same, what’s changed, and what people have to say about what it means to be from North Hykeham.
I’m also going to be running a series of workshops for budding and new writers from different age groups and experience levels around the area, and building an exhibition/event around all of our work.
I’m really looking forward to meeting people as I collect material to inspire the headphone-based theatre, as well as at the workshops, and can’t wait to start planning and talking about and working on it all! More news soon-ish…
